Obituary of James Edward Poulin

James Edward Poulin, Sr., 54 of Mill Street, Putnam, died Saturday at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Betty Jane (Prosser) Poulin. He was born September 11, 1950 in Putnam, son of Ruth Pollack of Summerville, SC and the late Leonard Poulin. He made his home in Putnam most of his life and a dedicated member of the HighPointe Church in Thompson. He was the Maintenance Engineer at the Brooks Distribution center in Dayville were has been employed for the last 13 years, he had worked for the former Child World and H.I.S. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US Army. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his church. He was an avid gardener, growing roses, sunflowers and strawberries, a skilled woodworker keeping his home and his childrens homes in good repair. He leaves in addition to his wife and mother he leaves three sons: James Poulin, Jr. and his wife Donna of Lake Whales, FL: Norman Bisson, III and his wife Cheryl of Putnam; Christopher Bisson and his companion Kristy Chappell of Putnam, a daughter: Michelle Cote and her husband Norman of Putnam, seven brothers: Peter Poulin, Sr. of Putnam, Thomas Poulin of NC, John Poulin of IL, Leonard Poulin, Jr. of TN, William Poulin of FL, Abe Pollack of SC, Arnon Pollack of KS, two sisters: June Shin of HI, Cheryl Cohen of IL, 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dawn Bisson in 2004. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the HighPointe Church, 1208 Thompson Road, Thompson, CT. Calling hours will be Monday (today) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam with military honors.
