Obituary of Robert "Eddie" Edward Er

Robert Edward "Eddie" Erskine, Sr., 65 of Searles Road, Pomfret Center, passed away Thursday at his home after a battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Donalda (Donna) Erskine, she died in 2002. He was born July 25, 1939 in Putnam, son of the late Reginald E. and Gertrude (Currier) Erskine. He lived in Pomfret Center most of his life and attended Pomfret Community School and was a graduate of the Putnam Trade School. He worked at the Spring Farm, ran a chicken farm for several years, drove milk truck for the Kingswood Dairy and Deary Brothers. He also worked at Rogers Corp., Anchor Glass, Idle Wild Farms and retired in 2003 from Frito Lay. Robert was employed by the Town of Eastford as the caretaker of the Town Landfill. He enjoyed collecting scrap metal at his home to earn extra money. He had a great love for animals and raised sheep and chickens for many years. Robert enjoyed spending time playing cards with family and friends on weekends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He leaves three sons: Theodore Erskine and his wife Lora of Dayville; Robert Erskine, Jr. and his wife Sue of South Killingly; Thomas Erskine and Kim of Moosup; three brothers: William Erskine of Ashford; Herbert Erskine and his wife Karen of Dayville; Richard Erskine of Danielson; two sisters: Helen Welch and her husband Richard of Maine; Pauline Coons of Georgia. He also leaves six wonderful grandchildren: Ray, Erica, Vanessa, Tyler Elizabeth and Andrew, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife and two brothers Albert E. Erskine and Reginald Erskine, Jr. Graveside Services will be June 25, 2005 (Saturday) at 9:00 AM at the Abington Cemetery, Route 44, Abington, CT. No calling hours.
