Obituary of Inza Saltonstall Child
Inza Saltonstall Child, 93, passed away at Westview Healthcare Center in Dayville on November 16, 2005. She was born November 13, 1912 in Bridgeton, RI, daughter of the late C. Howard Saltonstall and Edera Knight Saltonstall.
She is survived by two sons: Douglas Child of Woodstock; Bradford Child and his wife Betsy of Ft. Myers, FL, three daughters: Deborah Sherman and her husband Kenneth of Woodstock; Laverne Frederick and her husband John of Llano, TX and West Bath, ME; Beverly Arnett and her husband Devens of South Harpswell, ME; grandchildren: Dawn, Craig, and Jill Sherman of Woodstock; Bruce Frederick of Wimberley, TX;Paige Pape of Austin, TX; Ann Tyimok of Pomfret; Jeffery Child ofWoodstock; Heather Quercia of Putnam; Stephen and Rexford Arnett of Emmett,ID; Danielle Keller of Brunswick, ME; Kristen Kern of Cumberland, RI; and Meredith Morris of Dorchester, MA; and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased on December 25, 1979 by her husband, Roger R. Child, whom she married on June 8, 1935 at the East Woodstock Congregational Church, two brothers: Glenn Saltonstall; Charles Saltonstall, two sisters: Avis Saltonstall; Dorothy Johnson.
She graduated from Burrillville High School in RI moving to East Woodstock soon after. She worked at Stillwater Worsted Mills and later as a cook at Woodstock Elementary School. She was a long-time member of the East Woodstock Congregational Church and a member of the Ladies Benevolent Society. She enjoyed traveling both with her husband and after his death, with friends and family. Her favorite trip was her last, a cruise with her five children in March of 2003 to celebrate her 90th birthday.
A Funeral Service will be held at the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, East Woodstock, on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. with burial following in the East Woodstock Cemetery. No calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missions Committee of the East Woodstock Congregational Church, PO Box 156, East Woodstock, CT 06244.
