Obituary of Mary E. Gaucher

Mary E. Gaucher, 94 of Ballou Street, Putnam, died Monday in the Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam after a lengthy illness. She was wife of the late Roland Gaucher, he died December 8, 1966. She was born January 12, 1911 in New Bedford, MA, daughter of the late John and Rosanna (Fleurent) LaBossiere. She had made her home in Putnam most of her life, a communicant of ST Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. She worked several years at Hale Manufacturing Company before retiring at 65, she was also employed at the American Optical in Southbridge and the former Putnam Woolen Mill. She was a member of the AARP, an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed traveling and had traveled to Europe and throughout the United States. She leaves her children; Claire Bennett, Roland Gaucher, both of Putnam, her grandchildren; Richard Bennett, David Bennett, Sandra Kleine, Roland Gaucher III, Matthew Gaucher, Daniel Gaucher; eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings; Oliver, Henry, Arthur, Alfred, Albert, Rosanna, Olivene, and a granddaughter Linda Bennett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:30 AM at ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Burial in ST Mary Cemetery, Putnam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Matulaitis Nursing Home Memorial Fund, 10 Thurber Road, Putnam, CT 06260 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Donor Services Center, PO Box 4444, Pittsfield, MA 01202-4444. .
