Obituary of Jane Maria Engle

Jane Maria (Menige) Engle, age 53, of Elvira Heights, Putnam, died at home after a long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Aubrey S. Engle. They were married in 1983. She was born September 30, 1952 in Upper Darby PA, daughter of Eugene and Josephine Menige of Upper Darby, PA. Jane was a 1970 graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill, PA. Jane earned her Bachelors Degree of Science in education from Saint Joseph University of Philadelphia, PA. in 1974. Jane was a school teacher at Saint Patricks School in Malvern, PA. and Saint Mary School in Putnam. She also worked at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. in the Patient Support Department. In 2000, Jane received the Outstanding Service Award from Day Kimball Hospital and a Certificate of Appreciation for her dedicated support to the Day Kimball Hospital Lifeline Program. In 2003, Jane was recognized by Saint Mary School for her ongoing support and dedication to the Catholic Christian Educational Community. She was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Church, having taught CCD and singing in the choir. Also a member of Northeastern Connecticut Health Care Credit Union, Inc., Day Kimball Hospital Wellwishers and Craft Club. In addition to leaving her husband, she leaves her parents, sister Joan Menige of Wayne, PA.; her son Chad Engle of Putnam; step children, Aubrey Engle of Leland, NC; Marjorie (Engle) Alfaro of Coconut Creek, FL; Desiree (Engle) Kadosh of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her step grand children, Nikolas; Ashley; Banks; brother-in-law David Engle; sister-in-law Sandy Engle; nephew Eric Engle, and many friends. A celebration of Janes Life will be Thursday at 11:00 AM in Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT. Calling Hours Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
