Obituary of John Louis Chatelle

John Louis Chatelle April 17, 1934 - December 20, 2012 John Louis Chatelle, age 78, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Lafayette, Louisianna. Mr. Chatelle was a native of Killingly, CT and had been a resident of Lafayette since 2005. He was a decorated veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, two Korean Presidential Unit Citations, U.N. Service Medal and the M1 Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge. Survivors include two sons, Gene Chatelle and his wife, Gail and Leon Chatelle; four daughters, Shirley C. Tiffany, Phyllis C. Sawyer and her husband, David, Theresa Chatelle and Joanne C. Landry and her husband, Jeffrey; one brother, Paul Chatelle; one sister, Millie Woodmancy; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Gonyer Chatelle.; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Chatelle and mother the former Evelyn Long.
