Obituary of Edwin Earl Spooner

Edwin Earl Spooner, 70, of South Main Street, Putnam, passed away early Saturday morning at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after a bout with cancer. He was born October 30, 1935, in Willimantic, son of the late Arthur F. and Vera (Bowen) Spooner. Earl attended schools in Putnam and served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1960. Earl was a well known TV repairman in the area, working for several TV repair businesses in the Putnam area over the years. He had a great interest in family genealogy and was a member of the Putnam and Eastford Historical Societies. Earl is survived by a brother, Robert Spooner of Windsor Locks, a sister, Dorothy Davis of Eastford, three nephews and two nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur E. Spooner in 1998 and three infant brothers. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 to 1:30 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, with a Funeral Service at 1:30 PM. Burial in Grove Cemetery, Eastford, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Aspinock Historical Society of Putnam or to the Eastford Historical Society.
