Obituary of Leonard R. Berntson

Leonard R. Berntson, 89, of The Village at Waterman Lake, Greenville, RI, formerly of Woodstock, CT, went to be with his Lord on May 23rd, 2006. Beloved husband of Helen (Jarvis) Delisle Berntson, his first wife Priscilla (Swenson) Berntson, died in 1997. He was the son of the late Charles and Hilma (Johnson) Berntson of Corona, NY, the youngest of three brothers and five sisters, who preceded him in death. During World War II, he served as an army medic in Germany. He made his home in Woodstock for many years and worked at Pratt and Whitney in Hartford for many years. He was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Woodstock; singing in the church choir brought much joy to his life. In Lennys retirement years he volunteered at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, where he made many friends among patients and hospital workers. He leaves his wife, Helen, her sons, George and Thomas, daughter, Jeanne Marsden and husband William, nieces, Connie Johnson and husband Alan, Audrey Smith and husband Burton, Sheryl Kellow, Nancy Johnson Peterson; nephews, Peter Pearson and wife Laura, Kenneth Stromgren and wife Marge, also many grand nieces and nephews and a host of friends. A Memorial Service will be Saturday May 27th at 11 A.M. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 Child Hill Rd, Woodstock, Ct.
