Obituary of Loretta A. Lyon

Loretta A. Lyon, 80, formerly of Route 171, Woodstock, died Wednesday evening at Haven Health Care in Rocky Hill. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert F. Lyon, Sr., he died in 1988. She was born October 27, 1925 in Hartford, daughter of the late Harold F. and Alice M. (Cofran) Herre, Sr. She had made her home in Woodstock most of her life, a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Woodstock. She was a professional seamstress making curtains and draperies for many homes in Woodstock and Pomfret and had worked as a spinner at Belding for five years. Loretta was very devoted to her husband, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves four sons, Albert F. Lyon, Jr. of Woodstock, Robert K. Lyon of Danielson, Bruce S. Lyon and his wife Pat of Woodstock, Ricky A. Lyon of Wallatosa, Wisconsin, a brother Harold Herre, Jr. of Woodstock, a sister Barbara Herre of Woodstock,grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 12:00 Noon at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 12 Bradford Corner Rd, Woodstock, calling hours Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial in Barlow Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
