Obituary of James E. Nichols

James Nichols, 74, formerly of Bibeault Street, Putnam, died Friday September 8, 2006 at Haven Health Care in Danielson. He was the husband of Asta(Rosenkanz) Nichols; they were married August 25, 1954 in Mainstockheim, Germany. He was born September 9, 1932 in New London, son of the late James and Georgianna (Couillard) Nichols. He worked for over 24 years as Assistant Foreman at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. He was a veteran of World War Two serving with the 1st infantry, 63rd Tank Battalion The Big Red One. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation of Kitzingen, Germany. He was a member of the Putnam Baptist Church, the Putnam American Legion and the Putnam VFW #1523. He enjoyed fishing. He had a great love for his wife and his family. He leaves in addition to his wife Asta of 52 years, two sisters, Minnie Jannings; Theresa Olson; several nieces and nephews, including LeDene LeBeau, Robert Billings; Cheryl LaRose. He was predeceased by siblings Harry, Waldo, Marie E. LeBeau, Ralph, Francis, Clifford and Richard. Graveside Service September 29th (Friday) at 11:30 am in the Grove Street Cemetery, Grove Street, Putnam followed by Military Honors.
