Obituary of June L. Whiteoak
June L. Whiteoak, age 75, of Sabin Street, Putnam, died unexpectedly Monday morning at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth F. Whiteoak; they were married January 9, 1953. She was born August 31, 1931 in Putnam, daughter of the late William and Alice (Warren) Salvas, Sr.
She made her home in Putnam most of her life a communicant of ST Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. She had worked with her husband for over twenty years cleaning the Citizens National Bank in Putnam and North Grosvenordale and she also worked for 10 years for D. Morrison and Sons Cleaning. She was a great cook, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing, trips to the casino, knitting and crocheting.
She leaves in addition to her husband Kenneth of 53 years, Her children, Ellen Hayes of Thompson; Elizabeth Whiteoak of Boston; Scott Whiteoak of Dayville; sisters, Madeleine Gastonguay of Florida; Alice Smith of Putnam; brother, Warren Salvas of Putnam; three grandchildren, Todd Hayes; Brad Hayes: Krystle Whiteoak; several nieces and nephews, she was predeceased by a brother, William Salvas, Jr.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St. Putnam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam.
