Obituary of Everett Bertram Sylvester

Everett Bertram Sylvester, age 85, formerly of West Thompson Road, Thompson, died Sunday at Matulaitis Nursing Home. Husband of the late Anthina (Leasca) Sylvester. Born April 25, 1921 in Putnam, son of the late Bertram and Hazel (Cotton) Sylvester. He worked for American Optical in Putnam and Southbridge for 42 years. He had many hobbies and interests: wood crafting, painting, flying, photography, raising tropical fish, ballroom dancing, martial arts, chess, and he enjoyed water sports, such as scuba diving and kayaking. He was a member of the Putnam Baptist Church, http://home.earthlink.net/~putnambaptist and served as a deacon for 19 years. He was an incorporator of Trumpeteers Christian Ministries, Inc. of Pomfret. He was a Mason with the Quinebaug Lodge. He was High Priest of the Chapter, Master, and in the Commandry. He leaves three daughters: Dr. Barbara (Sylvester) Foley of Pomfret, Caroline (Sylvester) Rondeau of Pomfret, Denise (LaPoint) Santerre of North Grosvenordale; Grandchildren: Dawn Palmer, Kimberly Gagne, Daren Rondeau, Pamela Santerre, and Tracy Santerre; great grandchildren: David Foley, Breannah Gagne Neilson, Arimae Gagne, Abigail Gagne, Kerri Palmer, Samuel Palmer, Benjamin Rondeau. Graveside Service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Trumpeteers Christian Ministries, Inc, 217 Babbitt Hill Rd, Pomfret Center, CT 06259.
