Obituary of Donald M. Peterson
Donald M. Peterson, age 82, of Maple Courts, Danielson, formerly of Woodstock, died Monday at the Day Kimball Hospital surrounded by his family. Husband of the late Ethel (Page) Peterson she died in 2003. He was born April 24, 1924 in Putnam, son of the late Elmer and Lottie (Panza) Peterson.
He was an auto mechanic working at Place Motors in Webster for 29 years, retiring in 1990. He was a Veteran of WWII serving as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army in the 121st Infantry, he was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his gallantry in the Battle of the Bulge. He had made his home in Woodstock most of his life, moving to Danielson in 2000. He was an active member for many years with the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association and maintained the fire trucks. He took great pride in the care and landscaping of his home on Child Hill Road. He always enjoyed helping a neighbor or friend with a problem with their automobiles.
He leaves his children, John Peterson and his wife Lynn of Woodstock; Margaret Bartley of Cambridge, MA; Joyce Peterson of Putnam; grandson, Joshua Bartley of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, Mason Bartley; Tyler Grace Bartley; siblings, Sylvia Blount of Milton, FL; Herbert Peterson of Pomfret; Theodore Peterson of Dinia, MN; Glenn Peterson of Putnam; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Wilbur, Gustave, David. Funeral services will be Private with burial in Quassett Cemetey.
