Obituary of Walter H. Pray
Walter H. Pray, age 89 of Putnam, died Wednesday in Gloucester, RI. He was born August 21, 1917 in Putnam, son of the late Frank and Maude (Miller) Pray.
He was a farmer working on farms in the area. He had made his home in Putnam all his life. A veteran of WWII serving with the US Army, 3rd Battalion 351st Infantry, he served in campaigns, Naples and Foggia, Rome and Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley, and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was honorably discharged August 11, 1945. He enjoyed reading, vegetable gardening and raising Peacocks.
He leaves many nieces, nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles Pray; Emma Barton; Dora Flynn.
