So sorry to hear of Uncle Si's passing. My Mother and I enjoyed visiting him at Matulaitis when we could. He was so happy to see his sister and she was glad to remember old times with her brother. They were all good memories...

On the long quiet trail,
A somber group of souls,
Walk slowly...
O, the sky will start to cry soon. The one they lost belongs to the earth now, and his soul resides above.
Not far behind them,
They left that sight,
The one that will brighten their eyes...
O, where to go from here?
The wind that touches their skin, makes their hearts to shiver. The cold feelings will have them wonder...
Will we ever heal again?
Their tears will soften the earth, for they are filled with honesty.
O, the grey pearls from the dark sky feel cold and heavy.
One prayer is said as they walk; one that will chase fear away, one that will block anguish, one that is simple...one that is heard high up in the sky...and to ears of their loved one.

I remeber the first time I met Mr. LaPalme maybe 17-19 years ago. I was intimidated at first because this man sitting slouched asleep in his chair, was as tall as I was on my tippy toes. I was soon over that after getting to know him. When I would go over there we would talk about the Red Sox, football, fishing or what kind of trouble scott and I would be getting into that day. But my fondest memory of Mr. LaPalme that will always be with me is, (that he would allow me to shine his huge brown shoes upon my arrival in his home) that was our way of saying hello. I will remember him not only as an American War Hero but, for the kind, family oriented gentleman we all knew him to be.
