Obituary of Harry Daniel Pattee, Jr.

Harry Daniel Pattee, Jr., 92, of Woodstock, CT, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the husband of Janice (White) Pattee, they were married December 26, 1942 and she died in 2003. He was born January 17, 1920 in Wallingford, CT, son of Harry D. and Jean (Stephens) Pattee, Sr. He had made his home in Wallingford for many years and was a member of the Wallingford Congregational Church. He was active with Wallingford Town government including serving as a Fire Commissioner, and on the Town Council. Harry was a leader in the New Haven County 4-H Club. In1967 he moved to Woodstock where he was a dairy farmer and operated the OX-Bow Acres Dairy Farm with his son-in-law and grandson for over 45 years. From 1969 to 1979 he served on the Board of Selectman and for a number of years as First Selectman. He was a founding member of the board that created the Northeast Department of Health and had attended the East Woodstock Congregational Church. He leaves his four daughters: Barbara Rich and her husband Fred of Woodstock; Lynn Coppinger and her husband Stephen of Wakefield, RI; Joan Pearsall and her husband John of West Winfield, NY; Lois Cleveland and her husband Richard of Missouri City, TX; ten grandchildren: Fred Rich, Jr.; Craig Rich; Lisa Dolonich; Nelia Breault; Suzanne Culver; Jonathan Pearsall; Jodi Pearsall; Cynthia Cleveland; Sarah Cleveland; Gregory Cleveland; ten great grandchildren and one great great-grandson, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Nursing Staff at the Matulaitis Nursing home and Day Kimball Hospital for the compassionate care that they provided over the years. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, East Woodstock. Burial at a later date at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the East Woodstock Congregational Church, PO Box 156, East Woodstock, CT 06244.
