Obituary of Lillie Mae Benson

Lillie Mae Benson of Woodstock, CT, age 73, passed away February 16, 2007 at the Day Kimball Hospital after being stricken at home. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Maramo, and friend, Dan Martellotta, Woodstock, CT, two grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Maramo both of Woodstock, five brothers, Olen Gibson, Steelville, MO, Melvin Gibson, Bonne Terre, MO, Donald Gibson, Farmington, Mo, Alvin Gibson, Potosi, Mo, Paul Politte, Potosi, Mo, three sisters, Delores Kitchell, Mineral Point, Mo, Laura Robinett, Irondale, MO, Marilyn Skaggs, Potosi, MO, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Benson, two brothers Floyd Gibson and Lee Roy Gibson and two sisters Ida Combs and Karen Politte. She was born in Potosi, MO, the daughter of the late Alfred O. and Laura A. (Owens) Gibson and lived most of her live in Potosi. To be closer to her daughter and grandchildren she moved to Woodstock, CT in 1999. Prior to her arrival to Woodstock, Lillie worked as a Caregiver for many years until ill health prevented her from continuing. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed making crafts for her family and friends. Lillie loved the River Walk in Putnam. She loved working around her house in the flower gardens. She enjoyed being in company with her friends at the Dudley Adult Day Care Center and valued their companionship. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Calling Hours were February 21, 2007 at the Brittton Funeral Home in Potosi, MO. Funeral services were held February 22, 2007 at the Britton Chapel and internment was at the Redbud Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Potosi, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made Connecticut Community Care, Inc., 43 Enterprise Drive, Bristol, CT 06010-7472. Smith & Walker Funeral Home assisted with local arrangements.
