Obituary of Dorothy L. Benson

Dorothy L. Benson, 92, of East Thompson Rd, East Thompson, CT, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Morey Benson, he died in 1974. She was born October 24, 1914 in Canton, OH. She had made her home in East Thompson since 1932. Dorothy was an avid Bowler and was a league bowler for many years at the Mohegan Bowl-a-Drome in Webster. She was a member and active for many years with the Kings Daughters' and had served as president, a member of the East Thompson Fire Department Auxiliary. She worked for many years as a Presser in the laundry business. She leaves her children: Frank E. Benson of East Thompson; Vera Keane and her husband Gerard of Worcester; Dorothy Hetherington and her husband George of Belmont, NH; sons-in-law, David Sharpe and Duty Caswell both of MA; 24 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters: Elizabeth Sharpe and Shirley Caswell. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Calling Hours will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in East Thompson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the East Thompson Fire Department.
