Obituary of Roland A. ST Marie
Roland A. ST Marie, age 85, of Riverside Drive, North Grosvenordale, died Thursday, March 8, 2007,at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was born August 25, 1921 in Putnam, son of George W. and Orise (Dupre) ST Marie.
Roland was a veteran serving in WWII with the US Navy, after being honorably discharged he enlisted in the Merchant Marines, he was a First Mate and served for 26 years. He made his home in Thompson all his life, a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in West Thompson. He was a life member of the West Thompson Fire Department and a member of Cargill Council 64, Knights of Columbus in Putnam. He enjoyed sailing and his motorcycle.
He leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, George ST Marie; Lillian V. Cournoyer and Doris Labonte.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11:30 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon in Sacred Heart Church, 47 West Thompson Road, West Thompson. Calling hour will be Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial in ST Mary Cemetery, Putnam in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations made be made in his memory to the West Thompson Independent Fire Association No. 1, 248 W. Thompson Road, North Grosvenordale, CT 26255.
