Obituary of Gary N. Waddington

Gary N. Waddington, 60, Mechanic Street, Putnam, CT died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Day Kimball Hospital after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Themis (Zamagni) Waddington; they were married November 12, 1988. He was born October 16, 1946 in North Providence, RI, son of Nathan and Evelyn (Ottinger) Waddington.

He worked for many years as a union carpenter in the Providence, RI area. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving with the US Army in the 2nd of the 22nd Infantry. He was awarded a Purple Heart. He was an avid outdoor sportsman, especially hunting and fishing, he enjoyed NASCAR and attending races at the Thompson International Speedway. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves his wife Themis, his stepchildren: Jennifer Rivers of Putnam; Dawn Rivers of Danielson; Michael Rivers of Putnam; two sisters: Evelyn Deccico of Harmony, RI; Jacqueline Gaudet of Greenville, RI; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and his dog Lady.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, followed by a Prayer Service and Military Honors at 2:00 PM . To share a memory with his family "Light a Candle" at www.smithandwalkerfh.com
