Obituary of Joseph N. Staton

Joseph N. Staton, 70, of Youngs Lane, Danielson, CT died Friday, March 30, 2007 at the Village Manor in Plainfield. He was the beloved husband of Eunice E. (Getty) Staton; they were married July 20, 1957. He was born October 3, 1936, in Lovingston VA, son of the late John Alexander and Ruth Elizabeth (Willoughby) Staton, Sr. He was a mechanic, working for the Frito Lay Company in the maintenance department in Dayville for 20 years, he retired in 2002. He was transferred to the Groton area in 1971 working four years at former All Time Windows & Doors in Montville and then two years as General Supervisor at New England Fence Company in Danielson. He worked as a contractor operating a Window, Door and Awning Business in Virginia. He had made his home in Danielson for over thirty years, moving from Groton and Norfolk, Virginia. He served with the US Army in the 1950's. He was a member of the Tennessee Squires of Lynchburg, TN., a charter member of WW II Memorial Association and a member of the Gateway Square Dancers. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, and spending time at many beaches. His greatest love was spending time with his family; he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He leaves his wife Eunice, children Joseph Christopher Staton of Danielson; Kimberly Charneski and her husband Jeffrey of Sherborn, MA; Siblings; Catherine Powell of Amherst, VA; Clarice Knox of Virginia Beach, VA; Clara Ester Cahill of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren; twins Avery Ellen Charneski and Evan Elizabeth Charneski; Kaylee Grace Staton; a brother-in-law; David Mattern of Montville. He was predeceased by his siblings; John Alexander Staton, Jr.; Theodore R. Staton; Norman E. Staton. The funeral Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 in the Smith & Walker Funeral Home 148 Grove Street, Putnam with the Rev. Daniel Ames officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial in Westfield Cemetery Danielson.
