Obituary of Florence R. Hopkins

Florence R. Hopkins, 84, of Woodstock, died peacefully on April 14, 2007 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. Born in Plainfield on December 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Florence M. (Hopkins) Hopkins. Her family moved to Woodstock when she was 3 years old, where she resided all her life. Florence spent her life working on the Hopkins Farm, Mapleview, until she retired in 1995. She was a great lover of animals, especially horses, and in her younger years trained, and also showed in local horse shows as well as the Woodstock Fair. She was a kind, good-natured loving person who touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her loving and devoted sister Bertha Benoit and her husband Albert of Woodstock, Edna Dumas and her husband Alphonse of Putnam, two brothers, Adver E. Hopkins of Woodstock and Clarence Hopkins and his wife Helen of Thompson. She also leaves her loving niece, Mary Kennett of Woodstock, and several other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by four brothers, Elmer, Ernest, Raymond, Joseph, and two sisters, Mildred and Marion. The funeral will be private. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Woodstock.
