Obituary of William T. Cassedy
William A. T. Cassedy, 89, of S. Woodstock, died peacefully in his sleep very early on Monday, April 16th. Bill grew up in Fultonville, NY where he began a 25 year membership in the Boy Scouts of America. In 1941 he graduated from Middlebury College, VT. In WW II he received the Distinguished Flying Cross as a radio operator in the 8th Air Force. After the War he worked at General Electric in Syracuse, NY and Decatur, IL. He came to Woodstock in 1971 as an executive for American Optical in Southbridge, MA until his retirement in 1983 when he became a consultant. Bill was a Deacon, Trustee and Chairman of the Meeting House 300 Committee for the First Congregational Church of Woodstock and also served as a Delegate to and member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ. He was Chairman of the Woodstock Inland Wetlands Agency for 20 years and a member of the Woodstock School Board. Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Margot; a devoted daughter, Nena; a son, Tyler; a daughter-in and two grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, April 29th (Sunday), at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, Woodstock, CT.
