Dennis Lester Brown posted a condolence
Am very much saddened by the recent passing of Mr. Samuel J. Roberts, Sr. I respectfully note that I am in complete agreement with the obituary...in that Mr. Roberts had been FRIENDLY and HAND SHAKING...an excellent quality for a political person. My recollections of Mr. Roberts...an individual with a terrific outgoing personality - always with a smile on his face.
Am prayerful that Mr. Roberts had an enjoyable life, especially as he advanced in age.
My parents (Lester & Dorothy Brown) had been very good friends with the Roberts family during the time the Roberts family resided in Lakewood.
Am hopeful that the relatives of Mr. Roberts will reflect upon their fond memories of Mr. Samuel J. Roberts, Sr., and that they will vividly recall primarily events of happiness and joy.
Regret my rambling (this would be my first response regarding an obituary listing).
It's interesting that Mr. Roberts and my father (Lester A. Brown) will now be sort of neighbors...in Woodlawn cemetery ~ Lakewood, NJ.
Would appreciate it if someone from the Roberts family would send me an e-mail~ at sometime in the future. sit1912@aol.com
May Samuel J. Roberts, Sr.
REST IN PEACE.

Shortly after moving next door
to Sam and Barbara, I asked Sam a question to which he replied "I don't know, ask the
Mayor". I didn't realize at the time that I had done just that. I will certainly miss his great wit.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Roberts in the hospital and was instantly impressed by his friendliness and strength even though he was ill. He spoke of his "political days" when I asked him about being mayor. I wished more politicians these days had his feelings of fairness and doing good. He really impressed me and I got the feeling quite quickly that he was a special man.
