Dear Gardner Family,
I don’t take claim to being a friend or family member…but only as a local bank teller. I so enjoyed waiting on Paul. There was always a gentleness in his demeanor….and he always had the biggest of smiles. In a way…he sort of was like a friend in the briefest of minutes in which we would interact. A number of years ago Paul and Barbara were out “window shopping” in my neighborhood. I was in the backyard of my place when they came around the corner. We chatted for a bit as they asked about the place next door that was for sale. I was unrecognizable as their bank teller. I was with my hose and with my pressure washer….looking pitiful and wet. Old dirty sneakers…cutoff denim shorts so frayed and raggedy around the edges…splotches of mud and grime…I was just a mess. I was certain they didn’t recognize me. The next time I waited on Paul and Barbara…I asked “Do you recognize me without my pressure washer?” It was a great moment as I confessed that I was that person they spoke with that day. Paul so delighted in asking me about my pressure washer from then on…always with a big mischievous smile. I so enjoyed him and his charm. I look forward to the day when I am at home with The Lord. I imagine myself in a dazzling white robe…tapping Paul on the shoulder…. Paul’s big joyful smile when I ask him…. “Do you recognize me without my pressure washer?” ; )
May God be ever so close to your grieving hearts…
Love,
Jeanne

To the Gardner family-
From afar, as many years ago, we resided near by in Wooodstock, CT, and some of my older siblings went to school with Gail and Donna, I wanted to on behalf of the Riel and Pelletier family, extend our condolences on the passing of your father, PAUL GARDNER. I in later years knew his late cousin, Leo Morrell Jr, from North Windham, CT, whom turned out being your relative from Putnam, CT, long ago. As time passes, so do people as we all have gone directions in life geographically, but may Paul's accomplishments in life to include his presence as a family man, and service to his country, be not forgotten. Respectfully submitted-
David Pelletier/Philadelphia, PA
