Obituary of Arlene Billings

Arlene M. Gallichant Billings of Fairfield passed away July 12, 2019, at the age of 96.

Ms. Billings was born and grew up in Danielson, Conn., before coming to Virginia six years ago. She was educated at the St. James School and the Killingly High School where she graduated in 1942. She married Sylvio Billings in 1945 after he returned from duty in World War II and their marriage lasted 57 years until Mr. Billings’ death in 2002.

She worked in an aircraft plant during the war and in a Danielson insurance office, and finally for the State of Connecticut, retiring in 1984. She is survived by her only daughter, Jacqueline Billings Briganti of Fairfield and husband Lou Briganti, as well as two grandchildren, Elena Briganti Phipps and Christiana Briganti Dunn, and five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Billings was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lexington and previously of St. James Church of Danielson, Connecticut, where she was also a member of the St. Theresa Guild and the Killingly High School Alumni Association.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Danielson, CT. Share a memory at www.gagnonandcostellofh.com
