Obituary of Rita Doris Bunker
Rita D. Bunker, 89, Sabin Street, Putnam, formerly of River Road, died Thursday evening at the Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Louis Foster Bunker, Sr., he died April 1986. She was born July 23, 1918 in Pawtucket, RI, daughter of the late William and Ernestine (Minner) Pommenville. She had made her home in Putnam since 1959, a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret. She had held memberships in Daughters of Isabella, League of Catholic Women, St. Monica`s Guild. She was active with the Girl Scouts for many years, and served as a scout leader. In 1985 she was awarded Connecticut Merit Mother of the Year. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards with her children and grandchildren. She leaves her children: Frances Kumar and Dr. Romesh of Putnam; Rita Anand of Putnam; Nancy Snell of Putnam; Louis F. Bunker, Jr. and his wife Mary Louise of Putnam; Mary Chrisovechotis and her husband Vasilios of Dayville; Charles Bunker of Putnam; twenty grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; she was predeceased by a son: William Richard; four brothers and four sisters. Calling hours will be Sunday from 12 noon to 2:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Most Holy Trinity Church P.O.
