Obituary of Madeleine P. Dion

Madeleine P. Dion, 80, of Putnam, died peacefully Monday at the Matulaitis Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Leo P. Dion, Jr., he died in 1996. She was born July 3, 1927 in the Manville section of Lincoln, RI, daughter of the late Dosithe and Jeannette (Beaudoin) Mandeville. She was employed at the Day Kimball Hospital for over 25 years as a housekeeper, and later as a technician in the Operating Room and Central Sterile Processing. Mrs. Dion was a resident of Putnam most of her life, a communicant of ST Mary Church of the Visitation and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed camping, knitting and spending time with her loving grandchildren. She is survived by her three sons: Ronald E. Dion of Putnam; Michael J. Dion of Amston; Mark S. Dion of Southwick, MA; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and a loving extended family will miss their "Memere" very much. She was predeceased by 2 children: Michael Paul Dion; Ann Dion Edwards. The Funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in ST Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam. Calling Hours Wedenesday from 3:30 to 7:30 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in St James Cemetery, Manville, RI. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the "Ann Dion Edwards Memorial Fund" c/o DKH Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
