Obituary of Gerald McNulty

Gerald T. “Gerry” McNulty, age 67, of East Quasset Road, Woodstock, a devoted Educator, Husband, Father and Grandfather, died Monday evening at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Moguliski) McNulty; they were married July 23, 1960 in St. Paul’s Church in Kensington. He was born February 3, 1935 in Meriden, son of the late Patrick and Teresa (Healey) McNulty.

Mr. McNulty was a dedicated Special Education Teacher, teaching for over ten years at the Parish Hill High School in Hampton. He started his teaching career at the Lincoln Junior High School in Meriden and later taught in Portland.He has worked as an educator at the Dempsey Regional Center in Putnam, Ellis Technical School in Danielson and Woodstock Academy. He was last employed as a Para-professional in the Putnam School System. One of his greatest joys was working at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford; he did this for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army. He had made his home in Woodstock most of his life, an avid Yankee baseball fan, he was a sports enthusiast including a UConn Huskies Basketball and a friend of Bill W.

He leaves in addition to his wife Mary Ann, two sons, Thomas McNulty and his wife Robin of Putnam; Gary McNulty and his wife Jennifer of Odenton, MD; a daughter Marlene Robarts and her husband Kurt of Bradford, MA; a brother Patrick McNulty of Tampa, FL, a sister Patricia Barry of Wallingford; his beloved grandson Connor Patrick McNulty; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Dylan in 1991. 

A Celebration of Gerry’s life will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the North Woodstock Cemetery, Route 197, Woodstock with military honors. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Jeffrey D. M.
