Obituary of Catherine G. Wilson
Catherine G. Wilson, 84, of Putnam, died Friday at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Paul Wilson, he died in 1996. She was born May 8, 1923 in Springfield, MA, daughter of Charles and Wilhelmina (Rogers) Glasson.
She had worked as a Librarian at the Putnam Grammar School, ST Mary School and ten years at the University of Connecticut. She was an active member of the Putnam United Methodist Church for many years, active with the American Red Cross, volunteered over 400 hours at the Day Kimball Hospital and served several years on the Town of Putnam Library Board. During WWII she served as a Civil Defense Air Raid Warden for the city of Springfield, MA. She leaves three daughters: Susan Giesecke and her husband Richard of Bolton; Paula Allard and husband Robert of Little River, SC; Laurie Murdock and companion Ronnie Tomlinson of Putnam; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be Friday at 11:00 AM in the Putnam United Methodist Church, 53 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by burial in Four Corners Cemetery, Palmer, MA. No Calling Hours. Donations may be made in her memory to the Scholarship Funds of the Putnam United Methodist Church, 53 Grove Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
