Desiree, I've never been really good with words when it comes to something like this, but I'll try, since I never got to see you again after I moved.
You were, by far, the greatest thing to happen in my life when I first came to Johnson State College as an itty bitty freshman. You were the funniest and most caring suitemate, and I know many, many others will agree with me saying that you brought light to not just the rugby team as you played, but also whenever we talked with you.
You saved me from what could've been the most traumatic event of my life. You saw me silently yell for help and quickly got me out of that situation, without any hesitation. Gratitude isn't a word strong enough for the feeling I have to convey. You are, and always will be, one of my life's biggest role models because of your help. The respect, affection and admiration I have for you is overwhelming.
I don't like knowing the next JSC alumni gathering won't have you there. I never truly shared my thanks for what you did, in making me feel safe, wanted, liked and important during the most impressionable year of college.
You changed my life, and encouraged me to change others. I can't thank you enough, and can't thank the universe enough for giving me the privilege to have you in my world. I'm really going to miss you.

I'll always remember the first day of highschool, sitting alone at a table and Desirèe walked right up to me and confidently saying "You look so familiar! Where are you from!?". Spent all of high school being close to her, always smiling always there. Went with her so she could get some tattoos done by Ken. I'm gonna miss all the fun we had. I wish I had spoken with you more recently. I'm so sorry to the whole family. Love you girl!
