Obituary of Elizabeth T. Wheaton
Elizabeth T. Wheaton, 91, of Dayville and Putnam, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Westview Health Care from complications of a recent surgery. She was the wife of the late Harry Wheaton; he died June 4, 1979. She was born November 30, 1915 in Putnam, daughter of the late Dr. Harry and Anis (Chapman) Thompson.
She was a graduate of Putnam High School and Northfield School in MT Hermon, MA. She made her home in Putnam most of her life moving to Lake Alexander in Dayville in the 1960's and for the last three and a half years her home was at Westview, a longtime member of the Putnam Congregational Church. She was a Red Cross volunteer, and volunteered many hours at area Blood Banks. She enjoyed her lake home, music, boating on long island sound with her husband, sister and brother-in-law, an avid Red Sox and UCONN Girls basket ball fan. She always had time for her cats and dogs.
She leaves her son Geoffrey Wheaton and his companion Cheryl Smith of Putnam; granddaughters: Melissa Godfrey and her husband Glenn of Putnam; Jessica Guertin and her husband Kevin of Newport Richey, FL, great grandchildren: Joshua Scraba, Travis Godley, Lindsey Guertin. She was predeceased by a granddaughter: Jennifer Wheaton; her siblings; Mabel Seaman; Helen Spencer and Leroy Thompson.
A Memorial Service will be Thursday November 29, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Recreational Fund c/o Westview Health Care, PO Box 428, Dayville, CT 06241.
