Obituary of Lawrence Joseph Campos
Lawrence Joseph Campos (Uncle Bubba), 30, of Putnam CT, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 of an accidental overdose in Vermont. Born in Worcester, MA to Lawrence and Kristine (Asal) Campos on September 11, 1991.
Lawrence was a beloved son, a supportive brother, a gentle loving uncle Bubba and a loyal friend. He had a love for the LORD and a willingness to give without expectation of getting anything in return. Lawrence never lived his life as if the dash that now separates his birth date and his death date was eventually going to consist of the word “addict” as if that was how his whole existence would be remembered. We choose instead to honor his true character. He did his best to face his mistakes and his faults. He apologized genuinely and was always actively working on fixing himself and the relationships his addiction nearly destroyed. For over a decade he struggled daily with his addiction and then his sobriety. He spoke the words “I do not want to be an addict” and acted upon it. With the help of TEEN CHALLENGE and his faith in God he was able to have many years of victory. He was open and honest about his struggle while he was alive and he shared his experiences openly for the sake of others. We will always be completely and utterly grateful to have loved and been loved by him. He had one of the most beautiful souls. We take comfort in knowing that we will see him again someday, but until then our hearts will ache with his absence. September 11, 1991 - January 12, 2022 will forever and always be the best 30 years of our lives.
Besides his parents he is survived by sisters, Krista Miller of Sanford, FL, Kalyn Campos of Lake Mary, FL, Kassey Campos of Brooklyn, CT, Katy Campos of Putnam, CT, Kandance (Mathew) Sawinski of Danielson, CT and brother Luke Campos of Putnam, CT. He also leaves behind three nieces - Lucy, Molly and Lily Gavis and four nephews - Henry & Charlie Miller, Kain & Reeve Sawinski. He was preceded by his sister Lynn Audrey Campos, maternal grandparents Richard & Nancy Asal, paternal grandfather Tommy E. Campos, paternal grandmother Priscilla Melton. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to HighPointe Church or Teen Challenge of 1296 Collins Hill Rd. Johnson, Vermont 05656 and Teen Challenge 86 Spring St., New Haven CT. 06519
