Obituary of Deborah L. Hitchcock

Deborah Layton Hitchcock passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, December 23rd after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69. Debbie was born on December 14, 1953.

 

Debbie is the daughter of the late Roger and Monica Layton of Bourne, MA. She is survived by her husband, David F. Hitchcock of Dayville, her son Bryan Hitchcock and his wife Caitlin of Woodstock and her daughter, Kimberly Simone and her husband Eric of Mystic. Debbie is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Ryleigh and Declan Hitchcock and Eliot and Kellen Simone. She is additionally survived by her brother Robert Layton and his wife Christine of Wallingford, PA. She is a dear Aunt to many nieces and nephews and treasured friend to many.

 

She was born and raised on Cape Cod and spent many summers on Sagamore Beach where she met her husband of 45 years. It is also where she held lifelong friendships close to her heart. A resident of Killingly and Dayville for 42 years, she became known for her handwritten notes and cards, her giving heart and her willingness to lend a helping hand whenever she could. She loved spoiling her friends and family whenever possible and enjoyed knitting special gifts for others. She was always a familiar face at her favorite restaurants.

 

Calling hours will be held Friday, December 30, 2022, from 5-7 pm at Smith and Walker Funeral home, 148 Grove Street Putnam, CT. The funeral will be held a week later, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Westfield Congregational Church at 10 am, 210 Main Street Danielson, CT 06239.
