Obituary of Mary Rose Barlow

Mary Rose Barlow, 94, formerly of Danielson, CT died on January 31 at Pierce Baptist Home in Brooklyn, CT with her family at her side. She was the loving wife of  Walter L. Barlow, Sr. who predeceased her on June 25, 2008. They were married at All Hallows Catholic Church in Moosup on May 3, 1947.

Born in Moosup on July 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Bellavance) Sadoway. She was educated at All Hallows School and Plainfield High School.

Mary Rose was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Prior to the birth of her children, she was employed at the Mansfield Training School and later, after her children were older, she returned to the workforce at Acme Cotton.

Mrs. Barlow is survived by her daughter Patricia Harrington of Putnam, son Walter Barlow Jr. and wife Holly of Dayville, grandchildren Megan Corrado (Dan) of Thompson, Steven Barlow (Jenny) of Springfield, and Ellen Mateus (Ben) of Putnam, two great-grandsons, William and Henry Corrado of Thompson; three sisters Dorothy Smith of Plainfield, CT, Pearl Wilkerson of Florida, and Shirley Lamothe of Missouri. Additional survivors include her Godchild Pamela Grundy of Rhode Island and her children Tanya Bailey, Stacey Dorrado, and Nathan Grundy as well numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Rose was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter Sr, her sisters and brother-in law Marjorie and Terry Lefebvre, Theresa and Henry Renaud, Joseph Smith, Rudolph Wilkerson, and Wilfred Lamothe.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association, or the donor’s choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT, burial will follow in All Hallows Cemetery, Moosup, CT. Share a memory at Gagnonandcostellofh.com
