Obituary of Thelma Fontaine

Thelma Y. (Derosier) Fontaine, 85, died Monday, February 13th at Hartford Hospital. Thelma was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years Leo Fontaine. She was born in Putnam, CT on October 7, 1937, daughter of the late Armand and Marie Rose Derosier.

Thelma was a graduate of Putnam Catholic Academy, class of 1955 and graduated from Bryant University, with a degree in Accounting.  She worked as a banker in Putnam, CT for most of her career, primarily at Hartford National (which became Shawmut, then Fleet). She was active in the Alexander’s Lake community and was treasurer of the Alexander's Lake Yacht Club.  She and her husband Leo had a passion for travel.  They visited all continents except for Antarctica, and they enjoyed wintering in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Thelma leaves her children, Lisa Gorin (and husband Dan) of East Falmouth, MA, Leo Fontaine (and wife Pat) of Milford, CT, and Lynn McCormack (and husband Dave) of Wakefield, MA, She also leaves eight grandchildren, Drew, Ali and Josh Gorin, Matt and Kyle Fontaine, and Erin, Anna and Ryan McCormack.
