Obituary of Deborah E. Brown
Deborah E. (Baker) Brown, 73, daughter of Elaine Baker and the late Ellery Baker, passed peacefully April 25, 2023 with her family by her side. She is survived by her loving husband, Garry and sons Jeffery (Katherine) and David, her sister-in-law Shirley Bagg and several nieces and nephews. Debbie was born in Putnam and grew up in Pomfret the town which she truly loved. She attended Putnam High School where she met the love of her life, Garry. She attended Fisher College, graduated, and worked at Rogers Corporation. During this time Debbie and Garry reconnected and soon married on June 5,1970. After Garry was discharged from the US Army, they built a home in Pomfret, the town she loved. After their two sons were born, Debbie got a job that was very much suited to her demeanor; she worked as a Teaching Assistant for the upper grades at Pomfret Community School for about 13 years. She was an adult who could be trusted and seemed to be a magnet for the kids to seek out for advice and counseling. The kids loved her. After PCS, she decided to work for Day Kimball Hospital Homemakers and again, she loved helping others and they developed new and lasting friendships with many of them. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and later, helped found the Pomfret Food Pantry.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation in her memory, her very favorite charity was St. Jude, or, to a charity that is special to you. Services will be private. Share a memory at Smithandwalkerfh.com
