Obituary of Richard A. Lernould
Brooklyn – Richard (Joe) Lernould 70, passed away Thursday May 4, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born in Worcester, MA to Andre and Miriam (Dot) Lernould. He attended Killingly High School and received his Bachelors at Eastern Connecticut State University. Joe worked at Racines Printing and Tillinghast lumber, before becoming the owner and operator of Lernould Painting and Contracting. In recent years he established and managed Frog Rock Rest Stop in Eastford, CT. In his younger years, Joe’s hobbies included baseball, art, drumming, surfing, tennis, and antiques. He married his wife, Lisa, in 1988 and together celebrated the birth of their son, Eric, in 1991. Joe was known for enjoying summers at Alexanders Lake, coaching baseball, being an active member of the Brooklyn Golf Authority, traveling with his family, playing golf with his son, attending concerts with his wife, and, of course, being Brooklyn’s own ‘American Picker.’ In 2012, he bought the property surrounding Eastford’s ‘Frog Rock,’ and opened the Frog Rock Rest Stop where he and his wife enjoyed running the food stand and antique shop, sponsoring a variety of annual events, and making so many wonderful friends. In the last nine months of his life, he received the beautiful gift of his granddaughter, Rowan, who brought him so much happiness and joy. He is predeceased by his father Andre Lernould, his mother Miriam (Dot) Lernould, and his father-in law Salvatore Chiaramonte. He is survived by his wife Lisa (Chiaramonte) Lernould of Brooklyn; his son Eric Lernould and his wife Rachael Dillon of NH; his granddaughter Rowan Lernould of NH; his brothers Gair Lernould of WA and Jeff Lernould of MA; his mother-in-law Ruth Chiaramonte of Clinton, CT; his brother-in-law Mark Chiaramonte of Clinton, CT; and his niece Hannah Rose of WA. His family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.
Joe will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
