A Cherished Memory! I have a lot of loving, fun family memories of Aunt Sara, but the one I'm posting here was an outstanding and unique experience we shared in the summer of 1982. At the time, Jim and I were living in Fairfax, VA about 20 miles from D.C. That summer was the 25th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech which he delivered at the Lincoln Memorial. Because we used to stay in touch with each other via the US mail, I knew my Aunts Ginny and Sara wanted to attend the 1982 Commemoration March. They rode down to D.C. on an overnight bus trip and somehow I managed to find their bus and meet up with them. No small feat in the age before cell phones and e-mail. Aunt Sara was very excited to be there; I don't know how Aunt Sara and Aunt Ginny did it, they must have been exhausted. But it was AWESOME to march, chant, sing and pray together at the Lincoln Memorial. This was a very special time for me, witnessing their participation, commitment and faith, and being able to share
these moments with them. Irma

I loved Sara dearly. When she saw something that needed "fixing " in church, she would often call me and start out with, "Monica, we need to do something about this." and before I knew it, she had me on her bandwagon. Her drive for what was right has affected my own passion for doing what is right. I will miss her.

Dear ones,
I want to add that our dear Sara (fondly called Sarita in Spanish) here in Nicaragua left us an indelible mark of love in our hearts and spirits that we{ll carry over the years to come:
Two special songs resound in my mind as I think of the passing of our beloved Sara Parker:
NO MORE NIGHTS, NO MORE PAIN with David Phelps
'' See over there, there's a mansion
Oh, that's prepared just for me
Where I will live with my Savior eternally
And there will be no more night, no more pain
No more, no more tears, never crying again
And praises to the great, "I am"
We will live in the light of the risen Lamb''
And FIND US FAITHFUL by Steve Green:
''O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion
Light their way.
May the footprints that we leave,
Lead them to believe,
And the lives we live
Inspire them to obey.
O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful.
