Obituary of Carol A. (Alvord) Lusby
PUTNAM - Carol A. (Alvord) Lusby, 77 of Putnam, CT passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT after a brief illness. She was born on June 1, 1946 in Putnam, CT. Daughter of the late Arthur and Alma (Nason) Alvord. Carol was a lifelong resident of Putnam and proud to be part of the hometown she loved so very much. A graduate of Putnam High School and later in life attained an A.S. Degree in Secretarial Sciences from Quinebaug Valley Community College while working full time. Carol spent most of her career working as a waitress at the Towne Room Restaurant (Pevners) in Putnam. She was known by everyone as the “best waitress” in Putnam. She went on to work as an office administrator at Rite Aid Distribution Center in Dayville where she retired from. Carol was an extremely hard working single mother. Carol had a deep devotion to both her family and friends. If you were her family or friend, you were on her “A” list! If she didn’t like something, you certainly knew it. Carol had a gregarious personality and an amazing sense of humor. She loved to share her life stories, all while taking you on a tour of her town of Putnam that she loved so much! Carol had many close friends that she treasured as family, especially Gerry Andrews and Kathy Andrews of Putnam, Paula Daggett of Putnam, Charlotte Plante of Pawcatuck, CT, Patty Ferrarese of Southbury, CT and Lydia Gould of Woodstock, CT. Carol loved to decorate and care for home. It was fi lled with beautiful country home décor. She loved her beautiful back yard, rhododendrons and azaleas. Carol treasured her memories of travelling to see her late brother Harold in Germany (accompanied by her late father, Arthur Alvord) and visiting Austria, and Switzerland. With Carol losing her mother at an early age, Carol assured that her father joined us for nightly dinners for the rest of his life. Carol leaves behind her cherished twin daughters Dawn Russo and her husband Joseph of Sutton, MA, Donna Zablocki and her partner Dominick Garreffa of Hampden, MA, son Scott Lusby of Sherman Oaks, CA, daughter-in-laws Jarravee Lusby of Sherman Oaks, CA and Marcia Foncesca of Myrtle Beach, SC, grandchildren Alexandra O’Keefe and her husband Samuel, Corey Galli, Ashley Zablocki, Regan Zablocki, Boston Lusby, Benjamin Lusby, David Garreffa, Kevin Russo, Jennifer Russo, and Brian Russo, nephew Patrick Alvord, niece Melinda Alvord (whom she thought of like her own children) sister-in-law (and best friend) Paula Alvord as well as great nieces and a great nephew. She was predeceased by her brother Harold Alvord who was her best friend who she looked up to with love! Calling hours will be Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Noon) at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT, followed by a Funeral Service at Noon.
