Obituary of Margaret Rohloff

Margaret (Peggy) Rohloff (Hogan), 82, originally from Dover, NJ, who made her home in Woodstock, CT, passed away peacefully on June 23,2024. Peggy was born on June 23, 1942, to the late Margaret Gray Ho-
gan and John Hogan.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Albert Rohloff, and her son Harold Andrew Rohloff. She leaves behind her son John Rohloff and his wife Nicki Rohloff, her granddaughters Meghan and Rylie, her brother Jack Hogan, sister-in-law Jean Hogan, and many other family and friends she loved dearly. Peg graduated from Dover High School in 1960 and Katharine Gibbs College (Gibbs College) in 1962. She worked as a legal secretary for law firms in Washington, DC, and New York before dedicating her life to her family. She bravely and vigorously fought for the rights of her son Harold, who was born with Down Syndrome. This quest positively influenced numerous individuals across multiple generations about the developmentally delayed community. When Peg returned to work at Woodstock Elementary, she continued her fight for the rights and acceptance of this community.

Her impact on all she met will never be forgotten. A wake will be held for Peggy on June 27, 2024, at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be held on June 28, 2024, at 10:00 am at Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT. Burial to follow at Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock, CT.
