Obituary of Barbara M. Gardner

Barbara M. Gardner, 90, of Woodstock, CT passed away July 9, 2024 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Paul A. Gardner, they were married October 24, 1953. She was born May 26, 1934 in Putnam, CT daughter of the late J. Edgar and Alexine L. (Rothwell) Phaneuf.

Barbara worked for Belding as a Cost Clerk and as a Dental Assistant with Dr. Koerner in Putnam, CT.

Barbara was a member of the Putnam Elks Emblem Club and enjoyed working at the Friday Fish Fry’s. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, dancing, game shows, scratch tickets, cake decorating, playing games with family, lunch dates with family and friends. Barbara loved playing the organ at Most Holy Trinity Church.

She leaves her children, Sandra L. Line and her husband John of Eden, NC  Bret A. Gardner and his wife Cassie of Plainville, CT., Gail A. Whipple and her husband Dick of South Lake Tahoe, CA., Donna M. Bellanceau and her husband Greg of Woodstock, CT., her grandchildren AJ, Nathaniel and Taylor and her great grandchildren Hunter, Henry and Graham. Along with many loved step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also her special friends Claire LeBeau and Yvette Boudreau. She was predeceased by her siblings Allison, Joan and Peter. In lieu of flowers donation in her memory to Day Kimball Hospice, PO Box 632 Putnam, CT 06260.

A calling hour will be Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
