Obituary of Shirley A. Lynch

BROOKLYN - Shirley A. (O'Connell) Lynch of 36 Vina Lane, Brooklyn died on August 17, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of 45 years of Walter Christopher Lynch (deceased January 6, 2001). Shirley was born on October 29th, 1937, in Putnam, Ct. She was the daughter of the late George and Simone (Jolly) O'Connell and had lived in Woodstock Valley for over 32 years. She also lived in Putnam and Southbridge.

Mrs. Lynch worked at Day Kimball Hospital for many years. It was one of her significant joys in helping other people. When Shirley retired, she liked traveling. Two of her favorite destinations were Hawaii and Branson, Missouri, Shirley also volunteered working at the local food pantry.

One of the things she loved the most in life was getting her family together on holidays and weekends. With Shirley it was always about her family. As Shirley got along in life, her favorite activities were bingo with her sister on Fridays and yard saling with her son Thomas on Saturdays.

She leaves her children Walter S. Lynch and wife Lisa of Thompson, Thomas A. Lynch and wife Ginger of Woodstock, Randall J. Lynch and wife Kelly of Eastford, Barbara J. Lynch of  Ashford and son- in- law Jim Ellis of Brooklyn. Siblings Jane Delany and Susan Smith. Grandchildren Kyle Lynch, Stacey Lynch, Joseph Lynch, Krista Lynch, Cameron Lynch, Teagan Lynch, Garett Lynch. Great grandchildren Haleigh Lynch, Ellie May Lynch. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol Ellis and her siblings Gloria Benard, Deanna May, Priscilla J. Midboe, Evelyn Mathews, Paul O'Connell, George D. O'Connell Jr.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, August 23, 2024 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret, CT at 11:00 AM, burial will follow at Eastford Grove Cemetery.
