Obituary of Theresa Clara Wells

Dayville, CT - Theresa Clara Wells, 91, passed away peacefully at Westview Health Care Center on Monday February 18, 2008. She was born in Pittsfield, MA on March 27, 1916 daughter of the late Arthur Peter Cazavelan born in Trissiono, Italy, and Filippina Risso Cazavelan and born in Montegrosso d'Asti, Italy. She is survived by her daughters: JoAnn Wells of Farmington,CT; Pamela Wells and husband Ali Khonsari of Bloomfield, NJ; Theresa Eaton her husband Harry of Woodstock, CT, her grandchildren: Thomas Eaton and his wife Robyn (Defonseca) of Chestnut Hill, MA; David Eaton and his wife Aimee (Bellavance); Lisa Anne Eaton, and great grandchildren Jared and Emma; her nieces Judith Sullivan Cazavelan of Pittsfield, Ellery Burbank of Marietta, GA; Melanie Burbank of Lexington, SC; nephews John Owen of Richmond BC, Canada, Thomas Cazavelan of Laneboro, MA; John Dennis Cazavelan of Pittsfield; her dear friends Bee Geib of Farmington, Ferdie and Mary Roy; Mary deGiorgis. She was predeceased by her first husband,Joseph Keegan, her second husband Charles Howard Wells, her sisters: Mary Owen, Helen Burbank, Dr Jane Cazavelan and brother: John Cazavelan. She was graduate of Pittsfield High School and Berkshire Business College and was a secretary at the General Electric Company in Pittsfield, MA, until her marriage to Charles Wells on November 22, 1943. She was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield. She also volunteered at the Girl's Club of Pittsfield, and was very involved in fund-raising for the club. She related very well to the high school members of the club. Her specialty was giving cooking classes. Mrs. Wells enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and planning home improvements. She read fiction and non-fiction voraciously and loved to discuss the books she read. Mrs. Wells moved to West Hartford, CT, in 1960. She was employed by the West Hartford Teacher's Federal Credit Union for over 10 years. She began with secretarial duties and soon became a loan officer. She was active in St. James Church in West Hartford, CT. In 1978, she moved to the Tampa, Florida area. She was active in the Episcopal Church there and volunteered in the Church's program which helped give young children a good start in school. She returned to CT in 1997 and resided at Westview in Dayville, CT where she was lovingly cared for by her three daughters and the staff. Graveside Service Thursday a 1:00 PM at the Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield, MA, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 67 East St. Pittsfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Boys and Girls club of Pittsfield, 16 Melville St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 or Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
