John Schmidt was one of my family's very best friends for many years. He was a true American Patriot and cared very deeply about our country. John loved a good story and a good joke, and was always there for anyone in need. John and Elizabeth were founding members of the neighborhood group called the Knotholers. They got together regularly for dinners and parties at various members homes. He will be sorely missed. David Alan Demers
