Obituary of Alice Dorothea Anderson
Alice (Johnson) Anderson, formerly of Jordan Road, North Windham, passed away on February 27, 2008 at Douglas Manor, just a short time before her 91st birthday. She was the loving wife of the late Edwin Anderson, he died in December of 1990. She was born in Corona New York, on February 28, 1917, daughter of the late Robert and Christina (Lundquist) Johnson.
Alice was a wonderful person whose gift in life was to make everyone feel welcome and loved. She always had a smile and a hug for all who entered into her home, not to mention a tasty treat of some homemade variety. Although Alice did not have any biological children she became mother to her sister Anns three children after her death in 1967.
She leaves them Gary Anderson of N. Windham; Deborah Morin of N. Windham; Beverly Jakan of Canterbury as well other nieces and nephews living in Woodstock and Arizona and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Walter, Ann, Florence and Elna.
Her Family will receive visitors on Sunday March 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Johnson Family Homestead at 15 Smith Road, Woodstock. Burial will be in the spring in Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock. Donations may be made in her memory to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 14 12 Bradford Corner Rd Woodstock Valley, CT. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, Putnam is in charges of the arrangements.
