Obituary of Pedro Clarke, Sr.
Pedro Clarke, Sr., 91, of Carefree Lane, Chaplin, died Wednesday at the Douglas Manor in N. Windham. He was the husband of Norma (Guerraz) Clarke; they were married June 27, 1981 at the former Attawaugan United Methodist Church where he was a member.
Born February 11, 1917 in Putnam, son of Pedro D. and Albertina (Leach) Clarke. He served in the US Navy from November 1943 and received an Honorable Discharge October 1945; he was stationed at Norfolk, VA. He worked at Pierre H. Meyers, Uncas Finishing and retired from Brand-Rex in Willimantic as an extruder operator. His hobbies were traveling with his wife Norma up to Maine and The Lake of New Hampshire. He enjoyed car shows, cutting, splitting and working with wood, and being with his family.
He leaves in addition to his wife Norma, a son Pedro Clarke of Putnam; grandchildren: Amanda Clarke; Kimberly C. Clarke, Pedro "P.J." Clarke all of Putnam; Denise (Henries) Lewis; Charlie Henries; a special granddaughter: Jocelyn Guerraz; niece: Evelyn Greene; nephew: Richard Greene; a brother: Joseph Clarke and his wife Ida of Brooklyn; sisters: Marguerite Greene of Woodstock; Mary Hodges of New Jersey; and his wife Norma's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Olive in 1976; a daughter, Helen, a brother, Monroe (Chucky); sisters: Edna, Elizabeth; a step son Charles Henries and a grandson Roger Henries.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam; followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM.
