Obituary of Virginia Ruth Cannon

Virginia Ruth Cannon, 91, of Ballou Street, Putnam, formerly of Middletown, died Monday at the Day Kimball Hospital after a long illness. She was born December 6, 1916 in New Britain, daughter of Henry and Ella (Peterson) Hahn. She had made her home in Putnam for the last twenty five years. She was a charter member of the Cromwell Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Third Congregational Church in Westfield. For over 20 years Virginia and her former husband owned and operated a restaurant and catering service in Berlin. Virginia worked as an assembler at Colt's Plastics for 25 years. She had a great love for her grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and was active for many years with Woodstock Little League and soccer teams, and the Woodstock Booster Club. She leaves a son: Leonard H. Cannon of Bristol; four daughters: Sis Olander of Middletown; Janice Lincoln of East Woodstock; Kathleen Carlson of Woodstock; Laura Krug of Putnam; a sister Eleanor Anderson of Southington, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Thomas H. Cannon. Funeral Services will be private with burial in Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock.
