Obituary of Thomas Nicholas Murphy

Thomas Nicholas Murphy, 85, of Woodstock, CT, formerly of Stamford, CT died unexpectedly at home on June 12, 2008. Tom resided in Woodstock with his son and daughter-in-law Nick and Peggy Murphy for the last two years. Tom (Gramps) was born April 25, 1923, in Stamford, CT to Thomas and Lucille (Ludde) Murphy. Tom married Marilyn Millard on January 10, 1953 in Darien, CT. She predeceased him on June 11, 1995. He is survived by sons Edward Ross (Ned) Murphy and wife Diane of Redondo Beach, CA and Nicholas Millard Murphy and wife Peggy of Woodstock, CT, and grandchildren Matthew and Kate Murphy of Woodstock, and Makenna and Emily Murphy of Redondo Beach, CA and dear friend Isabel Apicella of Stamford. Tom enlisted in the Air Force in January, 1943 to serve his country during WWII. In 1973 Tom started Fabricare Inc. in Stamford, CT with Lou Badinelli. Tom and Marilyn were long time supporters and volunteers at the Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford. Tom loved his family and friends, Fox news, farming in Woodstock with Earl Geer, sailing with Leon Hocht, and a good political discussion. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was a kind spirit and he made all who knew him feel special. At the family's request, services will be private.
