Obituary of Josephine Marie Partington

Josephine Marie (Vanderspurt) Partington of Putnam, CT passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Webster Manor, Webster, MA. Born in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Stephanie Vanderspurt. Jo graduated from the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing and worked as an R.N. until 1989. After she retired, she worked as a volunteer in the nursery at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Jo was a Putnam resident for the past 19 years, living previously with her family in Sudbury, MA for 26 years. Jo is survived by Lewis Partington, her husband of 59 years; her daughters Margaret Munson of Franklin, MA and Ruth Callahan of Shirley, MA; her sons Andrew Partington of Brandon, VT, David Partington of Putnam, CT, and Donald Partington of Lake Tapps, WA; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. It was a rare day that you did not see Jo with her knitting in hand. She was always knitting something for a family member, friend, or charity. She also enjoyed traveling and camping. For many years Jo and Lew were active in church groups and committees. A Graveside Service will be held August 2, 2008 at 9:30 in the a.m. New Town Cemetery, Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. August 2, 2008 at Thompson Congregational Church, 347 Thompson Road, Thompson, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jo's memory may be made to Allegiance Hospice, 67 Middle Street, Suite 503, Lowell, MA 01852. Arrangements by Smith & Walker Funeral Home, Putnam, CT.
